I hate to be argumentative (almost as much as I hate to flame M$ LOL) but I've been pulling my hair out over M$ Word for years!

<rant>
The bane of my existence (document-wise) is that everyone outside the Linux world wants documents in Word format. It takes me twice as long to do anything in Word as in the much-superior WordPerfect. What's more, I can't purge old formatting changes (fonts, tabs, etc) no matter what. (I could do this very easily in WordPerfect.) Even copying & pasting _within the same document_ is unreliable. (Don't even try it in AutoCAD 14+ for Windows!)

Like you, I just spent hours completely re-creating my resume, but in Word, because...Word isn't even fully compatible with the same version of itself!!! 'Nuff said

:c)

All that aside, there'll be trouble anytime you convert from one format to another; it's a "lossy" process because the different proggies use different internal formats...and proprietary software, in particular, doesn't allow the differences to be readily examined.

My $0.02 worth.

Cheers,

Frank

I have spent hours trying to recreate my resume after a data loss. It
prints out perfect, but when I reopen it... the formatting is all fucked up.
As much as every hated MS office one thing it does have going for it, is
that documents come out the way they are supposed to!

Damn it!
