Make sure you install the kernel source package. It's usually called kenerl-src or something like that. You can install it through YAST2. Just make sure that it is the same kernel version as the one you have installed (if you have updated it or something). This will install the kernel sources into /usr/src/linux-version and symlink it to /usr/src/linux. After that you should not have any problems installing the vmware kernel module that the installer is usually pretty good about that. However if you do have problems take a look at VMWares web site as they may have pre-build modules for your system, and they also have good support newsgroups.
