Is it maybe looking for the compiled one that you'll find in /boot?

Alternately, is there anything in /usr/src?  Maybe the kernel is there in a
subdirectory, but theres no symlink to linux.  If it's there in a
subdirectory, it'll be pretty obvious, maybe suse-2.4.20 or something like
that...
