-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I was curious so I downloaded Slack 9 and installed it on my desktop (had a spare drive to play with so said "what the hell"). The download was pretty zippy so I was able to burn and install it.
The install wasn't as painful as I thought it would be. It actually went pretty fast considering I did some package selection. cfdisk'd the drive, no problem. The install wasn't pretty but it worked more or less. My wheelmouse wasn't working at the end of it but KDE 3.1 came up like a champ. Didn't poke around too much but it looked alright. This was a test run in a desktop environment but I was somewhat relieved at the end of it. Not to shabby at all. Kudos to the Slack team. It will not be my distro of choice, I just love SuSE too much. However, it was neat to experiment. I was impressed with the ability to assigna different typeface to my shell, haven't seen that before. I suppose I should take a gander at Gentoo to be fair. Trevor are you coming to the meeting tonight? If so, can I get a copy from you? Save me from downloading another ISO. Thanks again gang!
