It sounds to me like there were links from /media/cdrom and
/media/cdrecorder to /cdrom and /cdrecorder that are gone now. You could
either recreate those links or edit the .desktop files and make sure
they are pointing to the right mount point or device. Also check your
/etc/fstab file to find out what mount points the devices should be
mounted to. Then make sure you can mount them from the command line.
