Well I don't know what I did but I just fried windows on my laptop. I've
heard good thing about linux so I figure I might as well give it a try.
Unfortunately I have no clue which distribution to go with. I've tried
installing a recent version of mandrake but that's won't go past installing
drivers, so I figure it must be something to do with what I have in the
laptop.

I have a ZE5385CA from HP. I've only had it 3 months and already managed to
break it :P

Here are the specs I could find on it.
Microprocessor: Intel Pentium 4
Hard drive: 60 GB
Drive RPM: 4200 RPM
Memory: 512 MB DDR SDRAM
Memory speed: 266 MHz
Total DIMM sockets: 2
Multimedia drive: 24X DVD/CD-RW COMBO
Diskette drive: 1.44 FDD
Modem/NIC: Included
Pointing device: Touch pad
Battery: 8C 4.4A PM BATT

If anyone could point me a direction that would be great.
Thanks,
James
