Hi Doug ,
Welcome to the world of Linux and Open source.
Fedora is redhat, as you may know. And a good
distro with lots of bells and stuff for nubies. Suse and Mandrake
are your other 2 main options. Then would come the fun stuff like..
Now you asked for it: Cluggix :-) Gento , Libra, Lunar, LFS (Linux from
scratch) and Slackware, not to mention Debian (8 cds). But if you really
using Fedora, then stick with it for a while, get used to it. It is a good
representitive of the rpm-based distros like Redhat, Suse, Mandrake and
trustix to mention a few. The other family would be the deb-based distros,
mainly Debian, Cluggix, Libra, Knoppix. Then you get the third family, the
sorce-based like Lunar, Gentoo, LFS, slackware.
Ok. Well. Short of listing a bunch of distros. What could i help you with.
What is it that you are missing in fedora per se, what are you looking for.
Cheers
Szemir
