Folks;
For those that have used Suse’s WineRack, how well does it run XP or “03 M$ apps? Should one just pick up an old copy of Office 2K to ensure stability?
I need to use M$ apps for clients but don’t want to sully the hard drive in my soon to arrive Acer Aspire 1705SCi (gloat gloat) with an M$ OS.
I can live with installing Office, but would prefer to avoid the dual boot routine (it is a serious pain to be constantly rebooting). Also after committing the $$’s to order the laptop, I would need to stop eating for a month or two to afford the extra $400+ for VMWare without totally demolishing my budget.
I know OpenOffice can do Office files, but the formatting issues that crop up when importing files make it impossible to rely on it for important presentations and documents.
So, to those in the know, will WineRack run Office XP or “03 stably, or should I try and find an old copy of Office 2K?
