Is there any chance that xf86config will pick unsuitable sync rates, thus causing damage to my monitor? I'm getting a new LCD soon, and I can't find the appropriate sync rates.
On another topic, is xf86config used by many distros (ie Fedora, Mandrake, etc...) on install, or do they use a different autodetection system? I am running gentoo, so I guess it really doesn't apply anyway.
