You would think that should be the case. However... Last week I tried to get both my touchpad and USB mouse working in Mandrake 9.2. They work fine in Knoppix-STD and so I thought I would copy and paste the Knoppix XF86Config-4 file over my Mandrake XF86Config-4 file. X started fine, but still no touchpad.
