the only thing i'd add is that in addition to short-term pragmatism borne of 
choice-awareness, social and economic systems awareness can direct a form of 
long-term pragmatism that is equally important. choosing Freedom over other 
constraints can, if exercised judiciously, ensure we maintain the ability to 
make such hardware and software choices (whether that choice be for Free and 
non-Free systems) well into the future.
