They've also been brainwashed to believe that it's not good enough if it won't do $BLAH. Most of the possible values of $BLAH I hear about are downright dumb! Just because Microsoft has centered itself on producing an OS that excells in running video games, should Linux? No! Tell 'em to buy a damn game console instead. The development community has come up with stuff that's _at least_ as good, and usually better, than MS style apps, but the GUI isn't quite what they're used to when running MS style apps. Big deal! You get that when you go from any computer to another (MS --> Mac --> ...). The stuff Joe Average's not interested in is far more important; stability, security, low level performance, upgradability, and support. He wants fast 3D video for gaming. Why the hell should we care about that? Just because MS wants to take over the world, putting Nintendo and PSII out of business, should Linux too?
