I would agree that windows is not the greatest software around for all the usual reasons, but its what people use.
Until Microsoft declares insolvency (which will not be any time soon), windows will be around in one form or another.
Getting angry about it solves nothing.
And occasionally, something good comes along.

...or between Wintendo versions for that matter. Switching from Win98 -> WinXP is a big step for Joe computer idiot. I could as easily have someone who does mail, surfing, newsgroups etc learned in KDE as I could XP for someone who never used it. PLUS Id not be format-reinstalling every 3-6 months when Windows magically kicks its own registry in the proverbial nuts.
Some of these "idiots" also have degrees in medicine and law.
Why not make the best software you can? I've heard the best revenge, is living well.
The stuff Joe Average's not interested in is far more important; stability, security, low level performance, upgradability, and support. He wants fast 3D video for gaming. Why the hell should we care about that?
Just because MS wants to take over the world, putting Nintendo and
PSII out of business, should Linux too? No. Let's concentrate on
what's right and important.
I agree.
