Incoming from Jeffrey Clement: > I can't believe how much of an argument everyone is giving for this.
I'll agree with that. > Thread hijacking screws up people who do know how to use their mail I wouldn't agree with that. mutt threads well and I have no difficulty seeing hijacks and dealing with them. Perhaps your problem is you're not using mutt. > like common courtesy would say don't do something that ruins the > experience for others because you are too lazy to create a contact. As far as I'm concerned, CLUG exists because we're trying to wean Windoze using nitwits away from the @#$% they're using now, towards stuff (Linux) that we all agree would be better for them. Demanding they do that in a specific _manner_ is self-defeating. I'm one of the most virulent netiquette (sorry Andrew) nazis out here, but I also know _when_ to apply it. For instance, I don't expect you to change that disgusting top-posting habit of yours just for me, nor am I going to bother to complain that you didn't bother to trim at all. Both of those are far more irritating to me than thread hijacking, but clug-talk is not the right place to be complaining about them (Jarrod has spoken!). CLUG is about drawing people in. It's about helping them to change at their own speed. It's not about demanding good form. -- Any technology distinguishable from magic is insufficiently advanced.
