I have been coming to CLUG meetings for 5 years or so. I have developed my Linux (debian) skill up to the point where I am comfortable with intermediate to advanced topics, I feel the CLUG community is one for both social and professional interests.

The way I view this:
Social interests --> market place
Professional interests --> educational institute

Taking the two together looks to me like the quintessential blueprint for a "conference" -- with breakout groups (education) targeted at various aspects and depths, and enough unstructured time (market) for socializing. I am not clear on monthly 2-1/2 hour CLUG meetings yet.

Anyway, my 2 bits.

would it be possible to get 3-5 people for each meeting who would be able to look after an "area" so that there is interesting things to do and some topical structure? this would also help ease the board's responsibilities as it would distribute the planning.
