Wow.

You've written off someone I'd support as president, flamed the current
executive, and more or less written off the rest of the group too?

For one email, that's pretty impressive, assuming that was your intent.

However, as a member of the flamed majority, a working group of ~100 people
who have been meeting for years and successfully grown during that time, with
a budget of zero, through a variety of locations and facilities and other
changes. I have to say, I'm much more apt to think the blame doesn't lie
there.

I suppose it's easier to bitch and moan, rather than making any positive
contributions (even if they consist of suggestions rather than executive
participation). And you're welcome to it. But recognize it for what it is.

I probably deserve to be called a slacker for declining a nomination, but I
didn't decline because I thought the group was dead and the members were
hopeless. Perhaps I am a slacker. I'm busy, and I don't see enough of my
family. That will change, and perhaps next time I'll change my mind. But
for now, I'll try to support the group. If that means making mistakes, so be
it. Doing nothing is worse than doing something wrong, because at least in
failure, there is learning. Your post suggests that you aren't even
interested in that.

I'm not saying things couldn't be different, or better (or worse). I'm just
saying that the old adage "if you don't have anything nice to say, then don't
say anything at all" seems appropriate here. So say something helpful, or
shut up.

And no, I don't mean this to disparage you generally, I simply think this
email was out of line. Hopefully some good will come of it because I suspect
(actually I can see a zillion replies) it will at least facilitate some
discussion.

Kev.
