Just to add to your options and give you something else to think about. 
  I have UltraVNC viewer client & Microsoft's RDP both running off of a 
USB Key.  I like the UltraVNC viewer because it allows you to log in 
using windows authetication if you need it as well as allowing file 
transfers and chat sessions.  I use VNC daily to check computer at 
home...in fact using it now to write this e-mail.

You can also get PuTTY running off of a USB key as well and if you throw 
in portable firefox, with the FileZilla extension and few other 
things...well you have a party in your pants pocket. ;-)

I am close to having a protable office on a usb ket that I can plub into 
any windows machine and use no problem.  Onc I get that all setup, the 
next step is to try and get something like qemu on their and run and 
embedded Linux session as well....but the lag time would kill me...
