I have just finished installing/updating a ubunutu based server (d/l'd the server iso), and installed the LAMP server option it has. So far so good. Getting the web stuff set up is simple enough. But where I'm stumbling a little is the mail server.
Basically, this box needs a relatively basic mail system, to be accessed remotely from various places (pop3/imap) and should ideally have *some* spam/antivirus protection. I've used Kolab in the past for my own servers, and am happy with it. But before I install something that is um.. outside... the "ubuntu" way, I thought I'd ask for opinions. The current server for these guys is a very very basic Postfix setup, and has been encountering problems on a regular basis - authentication issues, can't send attachements sometimes, excessive spam, etc. So the idea here is to install something that will not have these types of issues, and be VERY low maintenance (those involved are not tech savy, and I cannot be on hand all the time to fix a system that should not be breaking in the first place). So, any tips or suggestions? Any that can be done the *ubuntu* way? The only real alternatives I see out there that compete with Kolab are Citadel, and maybe Zimbra. Webmail and groupware is not critical at this stage, but can make life easier for them in the long term. Oh, and this is a single domain - virtual domain hosting is not required here. Thanks for any hints/suggestions.
