Are you saying you're running a dual monitor system?  If so, then the 
problem would appear to be the frequencies are not set properly for the 
second monitor.  This is in the xorg.conf file (or XF86conf).

I haven't set up this type of arrangement (yet), but others on the list 
have.  I think you need to look into xinerama, or twin view.  (going 
from memory).
