Apparently the xforcevesa kernel parameter is being overridden by X. So 'safe 
video mode' isn't so safe. The sad thing is this was reported well before 
Edgy went "gold". It's ticking off a LOT of people. I think they jumped the 
gun on that one.

So...I guess I'll try 6.06 and not do any updates so I don't get bit by the 
bug you linked to. Too bad :(
