Oh, also, we will be writing code in C.  So you will at least need to
be able to hack some C and use a text editor...

And you will probably want to bring a computer with a serial port (or
share one with a friend.)  Linux would be preferred, unless you can
set the cross-tools up yourself under mingw on Windows.
