Regarding the VFX machines, are these door prizes or just for display? 8 machines seems a lot to have out and working on a display. Did you consider using VM-Ware to demo a wide range of distributions on a single (posibly two) machines - heck with Linux you could even multi-seat users a single machine :-). I can loan a LCD monitor (analogue input only), any wireless tech, and also bring a couple laptop security cables!!
