Hi All,

I would imagine someone in the group has already tackled something like this
so I am hoping they can shed some insight.

Going forward I am wanting to track the Geo-Coordinates (GC) some of the
pictures I take, particularly the ones of places I have been. I am pretty
new to the idea of "geo-cahcing" or other sorts of "geo-things" so I may not
even know what questions to ask and how.

What I would like to do is embed the GC into the images and have them
potentially do the following:
* Appear as part of the image
* Be embedded into the image
* Be "clickable" so that some looking at the picture could visit it on the
web.

Now from what I have so far I can place a watermark or layer on an image
that should show the GC on the image, but I am not quite sure how I would
embed that as well. From what I have searched/experimented/guessed at so
far is that I could create an image map on the image that the person viewing
it could click on. I haven't had any successes at the image map yet but I
am still playing around a bit.

Am I approaching this the right way or am I way off? Any suggestions or
links that anyone could offer? I would prefer to use GIMP or some other
cross-platform tool as I use multiple platforms, but the primary use would
be on my 3E-PC. Is there by chance a plug-in for gimp that would
accomplish the above?

Assuming that teh image map might be a cirrect way to go, is there a good
web service that would allow some to click on teh map in the image, go to a
site and have it come up? the only thing I can thnk of at this point is
Google Maps, but am open to other ideas.

See guys...I can ask on-topic questions once in awhile...LOL! ;-)
