Use software maybe? Take a peek at http://synergy2.sourceforge.net/
or are they Linux based computers? Than see NX from NoMachine...

Other option is to have monitor than can handle both DVI and vga 
connection and 'switch' on the monitor.
(That way you canhave one screen from one computer and one from the 
other... it still requires 2 keyb & mice...)

Just some thoughts.
