I am not sure why this is such a popular option, but it causes more problems than it solves. Unless you *know* your gear is clean at higher power output (the linksys routers are not, in case you are curious) and unless you have two high power devices, don't change this setting. Of course if your goal is to mess with someone else's wifi, a high power, distorted signal hammering away at a particular AP is not a bad way to DoS someone... not that I would know anything about that. I know a guy named Bob... > antennas for reception. You can pick up wifi range extenders at > Staples/FutureShop, etc. I've never worked with them so am not sure how > well they work. It works but again, I have more specific needs (basically 2 MiB/sec or I am not happy). I am willing to part with that Linksys extender for the low low cost of a beer. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.9 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org/ iEYEARECAAYFAkqu0W4ACgkQwRXgH3rKGfNl2gCeNuhk9GL9Xz96Crl+of06AGHv ESUAmwW2CHyfTRElR6vg3DnUe+I6gigr =f1jM -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- _______________________________________________ clug-talk mailing list [email protected] http://clug.ca/mailman/listinfo/clug-talk_clug.ca Mailing List Guidelines (http://clug.ca/ml_guidelines.php) **Please remove these lines when replying
