Just a heads up - there is no risk adjustment for the dehydration QI. The items that will cause it to trigger are J1c or 276.5 coded in I3. Jeanne

Hi,
Try to think of it just the opposite from the old standardized tests in school.   Then, you wanted your percentile score to be high.   The percentile score gives the percentage of people  (or facilities) that scored lower than you.

So, for dehydration, if your percentile score is 86, and your numerator is 2, then 86% of the facilities in your comparison group had one or none with dehydration in that time frame.  I am fairly certain that end stage disease removes the person from both the numerator and the denominator.

Subject: QI - Dehydration

Just looking at our QI's, & I'm trying to understand why the dehydration percentile rank was so high (86), when the # in the numerator was only 2.  Any help I could get to understand this would be greatly appreciated.  Also, if "end stage disease, 6 or fewer months to live" is checked, are these residents excluded from the numerator?  Thank-You!
                                      Other info:
                                      # in denom - 205
                                      facility percent - 1.0
                                      comparison group percent - 0.3
