If a
person is admitted and discharged on the same day you are paid for that day at
the RUG level. This is the only instance where Medicare pays for the day of
discharge.

The resident is admitted and discharged on the same day. In this case, they did receive services, so we filed a claim to receive payment for our charges. Medicare paid at the RUGS score. So now, we have a credit balance because the day is not billable, and therefore was not booked. Should we have received payment for the RUG, or should we only be reimbursed our charges on same day transfers."Thx in advance!
