I'm just trying to make this make sense to the CNA. My gut told me 3-2 also. However, if the CNA picks up a comb, and hands it to the resident, or a washcloth, or whatever - they are bearing the weight of these items. What is the difference??Other then the limb is obviously heavier and harder to maneuver. Just something to consider.

Subject: Re: section GI would code it 3/2. While the CNA didn't bear the resident's weight, there was weight bearing activity involved in her care. I would think that the fact that it is a prosthesis would be a technicality. The same theory exists: the CNA is performing weight bearing assistance. That's a tricky one.

CNA carries artificial leg to bedside. CNA places end of sock on end of stump, resident rolls up sock. Resident lifts up stump, CNA positions limb on stump. Resident hooks and tightens straps and secures stump?? 3,2 or 2,2 CNA did not bear any of the residents weight but did lift the artificial limb?? Is this considered bearing the residents weight??
