Title: Section T

Look at chapter 6 of the MDS manual which explains rugs.

There is an easy way to look at section T vs. section P.  Projection of minutes in section T can only be used in the MC 5 day or MC readm/return assessment.  The highest rug you can project into is a high.  You can also project into a medium or low.

For a high, you must have projected in the first 15 days of admission 520 or more minutes and at least 8 or more days of therapy, you must have 65 actual minutes in section P.  For a medium, you must have projected 520 or more minutes and at least 8 or more days with no minutes recorded in section p.  For a low, you must project 75 or more minutes and at least 5 or more days, in section P3, you must have at least 2 or more restorative services actually received for at least 15 minutes each for 2 or more days (See pg. 6-13 for restorative services that meet the requirements).

For any other PPS assessments, 14 day, 30 day, 60 day, or 90 day, therapy must actually see the resident for the minutes required to achieve a rehab rugs score.  For an ultra, the resident must be seen 720 or more minutes in 7 days and at least 2 disciplines seeing the resident, 1 for at least 5 days, 2nd for at least 3 days; very high, the resident must be seen for at least 500 minutes for 7 days, at least 1 discipline for 5 days; high, 325 minutes or more of therapy in 7 days and at least 1 discipline, 1 for at least 5 days; medium, 150 or more minutes over 7 days and at least 5 days of any combination of the 3 disciplines; low, 45 or more minutes of therapy over 7 days, at least 3 days of any combination of the 3 disciplines, and 2 or more nursing rehab services received for 15 minutes or more each with each administered for 6 or more days (see pg. 6-13 for accepted nursing rehab services).

Hope that this explains it for you!

Can someone point me in the right direction for finding out how section T is used in RUG classification vs Section P for actual therapies delivered?  Thanks.
