I would not count the 5Day MPAF assessment
because it didn’t include P5 in the assessment and I believe that CMS is gathering
data on Medicare beneficiaries and their hospitalizations. This is purely a judgment call on my part. Roberta S.

Message----- Let me see if I
understand. You wouldn't count the 5 day MPAF as an assessment. You
would then code for hospital stay since there has been one in past 90
days. Can I ask why you would not count the 5 day MPAF as an assessment? Michelle -----

admitted to the hospital with an overnight stay in the last 90 days or since
the last assessment if less than 90 days [regardless of payment status for
these days either by the hospital or by the nursing facility]. If the resident is a new admission to the
facility, this item includes admissions during the period prior to admission. Since you are completing a
14Day/Admission assessment, I understand this to mean that you would count any
hospitalizations prior to admission to your facility in the last 90 days. I would not consider the 5Day MPAF
assessment since it does not include this question. Roberta S.

where it asks for hospital stays, this is not on the MPAF. When you
answer it on the admission/14 day do you check no, since there have not been
any hospital stays since last assessment? Michelle This message is confidential, intended only for the named
