If they are not gone 24 hours you do not have to
start the PPS schedule over again. Our state requires us to do a discharge
tracking form any time a Resident is gone at midnight for medical reasons
(ER/hospital). If they come back less than 24 hours we just continue them
on their current PPS schedule and add a day to their stay. Ex: if their
100th day was going to be
5/29/2004 we would add a day and their 100th day
would then be 5/30/2004. If they are not in bed at midnight you can't bill for
that day and that't why they get another day added on.
