Does your accounting department/ billing department had on line capability with Medicare to check the status of the resident's Medicare benefits?  If so remember that the billing may not be current and there maybe days the resident has used that haven't been process through the system. If there is no online verification available, we have had social workers and admissioin people contact all the facilities that person was in and try to reconstruct the days they used.  That is the best I can offer.
