If the condition was resolved in the hospital then it should not be coded on readmission as it is not an active diagnosis.The same goes for any ortho diagnosis like fracture or joint replacement. That is when you would use a Rehab code and an other orthopedic aftercare code. I am not aware of any GI Bleed aftercare code.
