You start by looking up "syndrome" in the alphabetic index d/t OBS= Organic Brain
Syndrome. From there you look under brain, you will see"(organic)" listed (310.9).
Then cross reference with the tabular list and you will find 310.9 = Unspecified
nonpsychotic mental disorder following organic brain damage. I agree with the other
response that this is truely an outdated medical term. It would be best to discuss
with MD for alternative dx.
However, if you do not have anything else to go by except for the OBS then the correct
code is 310.9
