This question keeps coming up. Question G4 is looking for the "presence of funtional limitation in rangeof joint motion." "Limitation that interferes with daily functioning (particularly with activiteis of daily living0 or places the resident at risk of injury."
Take a look at the example at the top of pate 3-111. In the example, the resident has flaccid left hemiparesis. The functional range of motion is coded as "1" limitation on one side of the body.
I believe that YOU have been coding it right and the therapist is mistaken. The object of this section is not to measure passive range of motion, but to measure FUNCTIONAL Range of Motion.

I have a resident with a recent CVA. She has total L side paralysis. I have coded her as 1/1 for arm, leg and hand. My therapy dept tells me she should be coded as a 0/1 because she has full passive ROM of those extremities. Can anyone clarify coding this sec. for me? Thank you in advance
