Holly:   I laughed so hard when I read your story.....and although I have never been a DON, I have been involved in long term care since 1984, and could also tell you some whopper stories!   The one that stands out in my mind, however, is the time that three residents with Dementia got into a cab that was parked in front of the facility.  I will never forget how difficult it is to track down "three elderly women with gray hair" after they were let off at a train station (at their request, and one of them actually had cab fare to pay the bill).   I think I probably would have handled the "snake episode" just like you did....I would have screamed at it and hoped for the best....see, it did work!!   Lots of luck as you continue in your new position,   Donna Browne-Atkins, RN, MDS Coordinator
