State surveyor just left today and we got cited for keeping residents MDS in my office versus putting them in the charts. We send the MDS to medical records for filing in the charts after pt. is discharged. What are your thoughts on this issue? What state? MDS can be kept in a separate notebook/binder but it also has to be accessible 24/7 to appropriate staff and surveyors. My guess is that your office is locked and they are unavailable if you are not there?
