Hi Alicia, I was diagnosed in April this year.I am working 4 days a week now. My dx came about 3 weeks away from finals at school. I was a full time student at a university. I am 49 years old. I finished the semester and took 2 months off. I thought alot about my future with CML. I had been a stay at home mom, then divorced, and went to college to become a teacher. I do not have the social security credits needed in the past 5 years to qualify for SS disability should I need it. I was exhausted when I first started Gleevec - after 3 months or so the fatigue got better.I decided to change my plans career wise and decided to work now while I am feeling reasonably well in case I need to go on disability later.I decided to take a desk job rather than a more physically demanding position, and that has been a good choice for me. I do sleep alot 9-10 hours .
