Hi,

Age is a very important factor in having a transplant, I was 59 when I first found out I had CML.   And a transplant was out of the question.  They put me on Interferon for 3 months and I did not do well at all.  Two months later I was in a study for STI571 back then, before Gleevec was approved by the FDA.  The rest is history.  I am still in the same study but I am one of 300 people world wide in my age bracket.  As long as I stay in this study they supply the drug at no extra charge, but I have to pay for my BMB's and blood work.

Hope this helps
