Someone else mentioned clinical trials which would be a good idea to look into. The Novartis PAP might provide some assistance but it is more difficult to get approved if you have insurance.

The recent changes that allow businesses to end or substantially reduce health benefits to emloyees and retirees will make this a common situation in the future for some CML patients who will have to pay more in the way of co-payments to get Gleevec and other new drugs that will be approved by FDA in the near future. People who may have good coverage today may not have that next year. From what I have read nearly all companies are looking at how they can follow the lead of some of the larger companies who have slashed or eliminated healthcare benefits and plan to do the same thing in the future. A workforce with little or no benefits will be the norm in the future. It might be good for any others in the group who may have difficulty in making large co-payments to start exploring other options and have a backup plan if changes are made to their coverage. Programs such as the Novartis PAP will likely not be able to pick up all of the patients in the future who lose their healthcare coverage or have  large increases in co-payments.
