Welcome to the group...although I wish you never had to join. I am Alicia, 30 and living in the US. I was diagnosed with CML at the beginning of October this year. My WBC at diagnosis was 250,000. I am now slightly below normal on my WBC. I will most likely have another bone marrow test to see how my Ph chromosome is doing in January (3 mos from DX). I have found several odd side effects from Gleevec...bone aches, sleepiness, etc. Many people have side effects but some do not. With any luck your Mom will have no side effects and will achieve normal blood counts and 0% Ph Chromosomes in the coming year. For now just help your Mom take it easy and try not to be so worried. This cancer is treatable and not nearly as scary as it seems. You will make it through this.
