Hey All, Haven't posted in a while. I believe you're right. No correlation between the two. I think both come with an immune system mess up, but that's only my gut feeling. No scientific research involved. I believe my entire family has a rotten immune system or at least have immune systems with predispositions to certain diseases. Two of my brothers, one of my sisters and I have Crohn's disease. Among the 4 of us we have had 4 bowel resections (my brother has had two and my sister has had none). A bowel resection is the removal of the affected area, usually located near the place where the large and small intestine meet. It's normally a final effort if all meds fail.
I have Rachel who is my CML daughter (now 16 years old). The real kicker is my oldest daughter, Aubrey, is currently in the hospital trying to avoid having a bowel resection due to Crohn's Disease. We almost lost her last Tuesday night due to the negligence of her FORMER doctor. Obviously, we have a family who doesn't fight off diseases very well. Crohn's isn't even supposed to hit the second generation. It usually skips a generation, but no such luck in our family. Good luck with everything. The only advice I can give is keep the stress as low as possible. Also, Rachel takes her Gleevec about 1/2 hour before bedtime. She says that way when the yucky feeling starts to hit she is asleep and doesn't feel it. I know that is the opposite of many others here, but she likes it that way. The only thing I might be concerned with is that you don't digest well and sleeping coud make that worse. Good luck!
