I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in Oct 2002 and CML in April 2005.
In fact, I was going to the doctor because I hadn't had a check up in
a year (I thought denial was a great way to deal with diabetes--I was
losing weight so I thought all was well-hah!)

April 05 was a crazy month. I went to the doctor on 4-4 for diabetes
check-up. On 4-6, I was sent to an internist and a whole bunch more
blood tests. On 4-7 there were four messages on my answering machine
and on 4-8 the leukemia word was mentioned and I had my first BMB--with
lidocaine only!! On 4-11 I was diagnosed with CML and I have felt
horrible ever since. I started at 800 mg of Gleevec and only recently
have dropped down to 400 mg. The side effects, and I think I have had
most of them, have lessened dramatically, but they are still there.

Now for the diabetes...I take lantus insulin every morning and humalog
insulin as needed. I am checking my blood 4x dailly and last a1c was
6.3.

I am having difficulty getting my onc and internist on the same
page...has anyone been to Mayo clinic in MN? and if so, any
suggestions?

Thanks,
Jen
