Dear Peter, Terry, Julie, etc.

It is interesting to see others who have CML with other maladies. Not
all Crohn's sufferers are candidates for a resection as the inflamation
must be localized to an area that can be removed. My understanding is
that Crohn's is an autoimmune disease which I understand is also
pertinent to CML which has autoimmune issues although there is not
direct correlation. I would suggest that you speak with your internist
to see if you are a candidate. Crohn's can impact on absorption of
nutrients and the medications are usually of a cortisone/steriodal
nature. Just like CML affects each person differently with varying
symptons and side effects, Crohn's can be dormant, active, chronic or
acute. What I see with CML from this thread is that everyone has a
different experience to the illness, Gleevec, side effects, etc. I
hazard a guess that some side effects may arise not solely from CML or
Gleevec but from diabetes, water retension from high blood pressure
medications, cholesteral medication with severly impacted me while I
was on Gleevec and which I have since discontinued. I do think however
although it has been mentioned that this board is primilarly a CML
board that many readers suffer from multiple ailments which impact on
their CML and the more we know from experts and each other, the better
it will be to eliminate the fiction from the fact. Best wishes to all.
