Hi Susie Q,
I'm also counting down to my 5 years in Jan.
Gleevec quit working for me, and I am now on Tasigna.
Thank heavens they have these new drugs.
I think they would rather your counts be low than high.
On Gleevec, mine started going up up up.
Then I had blast. Sounds like you are doing good.
I don't have the swelling or cramps as bad with the new drug.
I can finally see my eyes hehe.
Blessings,
Jeanie<3

Hmmmmm.........well, saw the nurse practitioner once again this
time......not doctor. We had a nice chat and a check up......she said
I was still doing fine.......asked me if I had been having any
problems with infections of which I said "no".......I wondered about
why this question was asked because of all the time I've been going,
no one ever asked that question. When I saw my counts....I
understood. They are low..........they've steadily dropped over past
few check ups.....but this time, the white cells have dropped below
the "expected" range. They aren't too bad....but, still low.

7/2/08
11/17/08 Expected

WBC.....4.4 3.7
3.8 - 9.8
RBC......3.38 3.35

3.90 - 5.00
Hemog...11.5 11.4
12.1 - 15.1
Hemat....33.0 33.1
36.1 - 44.3

I had talked to her about the bad fatigue I've been feeling lately and
could it be these low counts. She said, "No, that they really
weren't that bad considering what they've been over the last couple of
years....that it was the "drug". Hmmmmmm......first time they've
admitted that. There is quite a bit of sickness going around this area
right now.......my mom is down with it this morning......sore throat,
chills, & cough. She told me not to come over there today. I don't
think she needs to worry. Our Pastor's wife has the same exact
thing, too.

Another thing......I talked to her about the muscle cramps....as
I've been having them in other places lately....like under my right
arm (strange) & lower back....besides the usual leg and hand cramps.
I told her that I had kicked up the calcium....she said that that was
not the problem......it's the "drug"......Hmmmmm......they've not
admitted that before, either. Could they actually be learning
finally?????
Anyway.....she prescribed a muscle relaxer to try taking at bed
time... we shall see how that works.

The PCR results will be back in ten to fourteen days....I am anxious
to see those..........since I go up and then down.......she did
mention that they have some patients like me in this area.......so, I
don't worry unless I see a dramatic increase.

I did tell her my spleen was really bothering me as of late & she said
it was probably "dead tissue"......well, that is what I was first told
four years ago....so, must be. I didn't ask what they could do for it
short of removing the whole spleen. Guess it is just one more thing I
will have to just suck it up and tolerate, huh? (smile)

God bless all.....&
Congratulations to the pregnant one....that is just great news!

Love, Suzieq
