Hi SusieQ,
Your post made me smile; I have always enjoyed walking, and even after I got
sick, still take my morning walks. It helps you feel a lot better I know.
Take it easy in the beginning and build up your body slowly.
Eating healthy is a must, and learning how to eat with cancer is helped a
lot with on-line research.
Fruit, veggies, nuts and yogurt are my main stays.
Good luck,
Jeanie<3

Hello Everyone:

Haven't posted in a while.....just reading the posts and then off to
other things.......but this time, I wanted to let you all know that
I finally got up off my butt and joined a new gym that opened up about
a year ago in the little town close to where we live. I had to meet
up with the trainer lady at noon today for a "walk thru" I thought.
Turns out, she put me through all the machines she thought would be
right for me........so, what I thought would be only about fifteen
minutes turned into an hour and half ending with about fifteen minute
walk on treadmill to cool down. (smile). I told her about Gleevec and
how it affects the muscles and bones......told her that someone in my
"on line" support group suggested that exercising helped, so that was
one reason why I decided to join.......also wanted to build up some
strength. We are getting ready for some major change here at my house
within the next month or two beginning with me going through and
throwing out what is not needed and then packing up everything as we
are going to make a temporary move while our house is being totally re-
modeled. The contractor said that it would be better for him if the
whole main floor was empty....not sure about the stuff in our
basement, yet. Now......I don't do "change" very well....but, I am
anxious to see the changes our house will take...we've been in it
since 1992 with very little done....it definitely is due. And....I'll
do whatever I have to in order to get a nice new laundry room back by
our bedrooms as well as some other room changes. So, I am excited for
that......and will start doing as much as I can each day so I am not
at the last moment frantically throwing stuff in a box or out the
door. (smile)

I decided at the turn of the New Year that it was time for me to
act......to get my active life back......and remembered how much
better I felt after going through a work out......that's what prompted
me in to action this week. And, even though I wasn't quite prepared
for what she put me through this afternoon, I am feeling better. I
also went to the supermarket yesterday and tried to buy "more" healthy
foods for my husband and myself. I am also going to take my 79 year
old mother with me the next trip to the gym. She really needs it as
much as I do.....just a lite working out on the treadmill and maybe
elliptical machine and even stationary bike. I realize she can't do
some of the weight machines....but, it will be good for her to do the
other in order to keep up her mobility. Plus, it helps doing it
together.

God bless each and everyone of you in this New Year that is before
us. I know that several are going through some trials right
now......I pray that they will ease up soon for you........I pray that
we all have a very healthy year in 2009!

Suzieq
