So, what has been determined to be the cause of the numbness? I have it
also, and it's a real pain when you set your cell phone alarm and try to
fumble with it to turn it off when you can't feel your fingers.....

Hi Tracey,
I have had a few similar occurrences. More frequently I've had the dizziness
(vertigo?) that has come up in the side effects discussion but that was
mostly when I started Gleevec.
While I'm thinking of it - literally - thanks to CMLHope for making the
association with waking up with one or both arms numb (like this a.m.) I
keep learning from the warriors. Don't recall acknowledging that recently.
This sort of doubly dubious for me. Because decreased mental acuity is a hot
topic in the (HIV+) PozHealth group on Yahoo. I'm trying to look at it as
potentially "decreased awareness induced stress".
On a constructive note, I've been on a low dose of extended release Ritalin
for some time and it does seem to help me. But it's difficult to sift
through the interactions of my medications including Gleevec, my ADD (the 12
year-old kind, not the adult) and yet another impending birthday (Earth Day
is my birthday ha ha). So at the least indivual results will vary.
Good for you BTW. Hang in there. You will get that degree! It only took me
10 years to get mine but boy, is it MINE. And thanks for reminding me that I
really need to learn Flash or Russian or something else deeper than an hour
of Discovery Channel.

I was diagnosed Oct 2006, have been on Gleevec 600mg since. I reached

CCR about 6 mos ago and have the typical
 minor, mainly irritating side

effects as most of you. However, prior to my diagnosis and before the

use of Gleevec I was attending college pursuing my degree and recall

that I was able to take in info, process it and recall the info and

work problems as needed. I have very recently gone back to school

(since getting myself and my family adjusted to our new life) and have

realized that I have GREAT difficulty concentrating on book work and

processing and recalling the necessary info required. Is any one else

having this experience too? Is this another unfortunate side effect

of the Gleevec that makes those mountains before us bigger and steeper

to climb. I relayed to my husband that I feel like I am looking at

Chinese and the lights are flashing, noise is loud and then the lights

go out and when they come back on I can't even find the problem on the

page, and when I do it all starts over again. Kinda sounds like

 ADD,
eh?

If any one can offer any insight I would really appreciate it.

Thanks and Blessings to all --
Tracey
