Hi Jody: Dana Farber is an excellent hospital, but I can only tell
you about my experience. I started on Gleevec 400 Mg. in Oct. of
2000, and only achieved a cytogenetic remission by July of 2001. I
did not start getting PCR testing until later on. I know things are
done differently by a lot of physicians. Some people did not even
have a Bone Marrow Biopsy ( which I do not agree with) but have just
been tested with PCR. I would not rush into a BMT. Is this Dr.
Antin a CML Specialist at Dana Farber? I think I would get a second
opinion. How is your sons actual blood counts? Did the 6 months of
Gleevec bring his counts into normal range. There is a lot to
consider before jumping into a transplant so soon.
I hope someone else can answer some of your questions also.

Suzzie
