Hi Tom:

I am on Sprycel, too. With regards to alcohol....what's a glass of
wine? I go out with my girlfriends about once a month and have a few
beers/drinks right along with them. I have not noticed any side
effects. It's probably not the healthiest thing I do, but, I have
given up so much already due to this disease, I feel I am "entitled"
to a good time relaxing with my friends. Just about every script I
have says "Do not take with alcohol," so, I guess that makes me a
noncompliant patient. I did the same thing while on the Gleevec -
blah! Talk about feeling like crap! The fact of the matter is, I was
dx'd 2 weeks before my dad died of pancreatic cancer, whom I was
living with and helping care for. I thought I was going to die real
soon, too. So, I decided I was going to live what was left of my life
on my terms. If I was a closet alcoholic, that would probably kill me
faster than the CML. One glass of wine per day is probably healthier
than 4 to 6 drinks once a month (yes, I get a buzz on....did I say 4
to 6?...hmm...don't really count). So, kick me in the pants. I enjoy
the laughs. We all have the right to make our own choices, regardless
of the outcome. Does that sound defensive?
