Hi Pat:

I started out taking the Sprycel at night because I was used to taking
the Gleevec at night to sleep through the worst of the side effects. I
have found that if I take the Sprycel after 4:00 p.m., I can't lie
down to sleep - I will cough and cough and cough. PE? Probably. If I
take it around 1 or 2:00 p.m., I do MUCH better. I am also most active
around this time so I drink more fluids and probably flush out more
fluid. I've had to change my diet to include more fresh fruit, yogurt,
acidophylus capsules, more water, Boost with protein - cut out so much
soda, soda really seems to impact my overall wellbeing (makes my
spleen hurt). I have found if I drink hot green tea with honey and
take a loratadine - after sitting up for awhile - I can knock the
coughing out and go to sleep. I know when I am filling up with fluid
because if I eat even a small meal, I am just miserable, like I ate a
whole turkey or something. I avoid salt and processed foods as much as
possible. I get headaches. I even wake up with headaches. But, I just
treat them with Advil and if that doesn't cut it, I take a Klonopin to
relax and that seems to work. As you can see, I've tried just about
everything to make this journey more tolerable - and compared to the
Gleevec, this is a cake walk.

Good luck!
Kelly
